The current version of varyu.app is informational. It does not create accounts, contain registration forms, or install advertising cookies.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand, in aggregate, which pages are visited, general referral sources, approximate country or city, and technical characteristics such as browser, device, and operating system. Visits are recorded anonymously, are not associated with a person or IP address, and do not use third-party cookies.
The hosting provider may process technical data needed to deliver and protect the site, such as an IP address, date, requested path, browser, and security logs. We do not use that data for advertising or profiling.
Application data
Varyu may require the following categories of data:
- Account: a user identifier and, if you share them through Sign in with Apple, your name or email address, including an Apple private relay address.
- Content: recipes, titles, ingredients, steps, dietary profiles, preferences, adaptations, and, when a recipe is shared by link, a random token stored only as a hash.
- Sources: links, text, attribution, and photos expressly chosen to create a recipe.
- Regional preferences: the selected region, currency, and measurement system.
- Minimum technical data: job status, latency, model used, estimated usage, error code, and performance diagnostics without storing the complete recipe in those logs.
- Notifications: if you enable them, a technical device token, language, app version, and delivery environment needed to send the requested notification.
A dietary profile may reveal sensitive information about health, beliefs, or lifestyle. Varyu is designed to use it only for the recipe where you choose to apply it.
How data is used
- Authenticate your account and maintain a private library.
- Extract and organize a recipe from the source you provide.
- Adjust servings, budget, ingredients, and the selected dietary profile.
- Estimate cost ranges based on region, currency, and date.
- Synchronize content and let you view saved recipes when the connection is temporarily unstable.
- Let you share a recipe as a PDF, text, or a link. Read-only links show a limited view; editable links create an independent copy for the recipient.
- With permission, notify you when a recipe finishes being created, adapted, or updated with a new cost range.
- Prevent abuse, diagnose errors, and protect the service.
The current design does not include selling data, personalized advertising, a social network, or public profiles.
Service providers
Varyu's technical architecture uses specialized services to provide the feature you request:
- Apple: authentication, distribution, push notifications, system diagnostics, and iOS services.
- Supabase: authentication, database, private storage, and backend processing.
- OpenAI: recipe structuring and adaptation when AI interpretation is needed.
- Vercel: hosting and protection for this public website.
The iPhone application does not contain private OpenAI keys. AI operations pass through the authenticated backend. Each provider handles data under its terms and the instructions needed to provide the requested service.
Retention
Photos and raw source material
Photos used as source material are designed to be temporary: they are prepared on the device, used to read the recipe, and deleted from temporary storage after processing. Varyu does not use that temporary storage as a permanent gallery of source images.
Recipes and profiles
They remain while your account keeps them. The original recipe is stored to support comparison and restoration; adapted revisions belong to the same visible item in your library.
Technical logs
The design avoids recording complete recipes, prompts, photos, email addresses, or dietary rules in operational telemetry. Technical data is kept only for the period needed to operate, secure, and diagnose the service.
Your controls
- Choose which text, link, or photos to import.
- Create, change, and delete recipes and profiles.
- Sign out.
- Enable or disable notifications in iOS Settings. When you sign out, Varyu requests removal of that installation.
- Delete the account and its recipes, profiles, and files from the app's settings.
- Request support or exercise applicable rights.

Security and limits
Varyu is designed with per-user data isolation, private storage, authentication, and backend validation. No system is infallible, and we review these measures end to end during early access.
Varyu is not a substitute for medical advice. An adaptation cannot guarantee the absence of allergens or cross-contamination, and cost ranges do not represent real-time prices or inventory.
