Adaptations

Servings, budget, profiles, and missing ingredients.

How they work

Current status: Varyu is now available to download free on the App Store. It requires iOS 18 or later and includes optional in-app purchases.

Save your first recipe

In the app, open Recipes, tap the + button, and choose Link, Photos, or Text. You can also share a link from Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, or your browser directly to Varyu.

  1. Add a source that includes ingredients and preparation steps.
  2. Review servings, time, budget, and profile.
  3. Tap “Add recipe” to start processing.
  4. Enable notifications if you want an alert when it is ready.

If a link does not contain enough information, paste the recipe text or add readable screenshots. In Varyu, return to this guide from Settings > Support and replay the introduction whenever you need it.

Availability and devices

Varyu is a native iPhone application for iOS 18 or later. There is no Android version, and this website does not let you use Varyu in a browser.

You can download Varyu free from the App Store. Availability may vary with the country or region of your Apple Account.

Importing a recipe

Search the web

Type a dish name into the library search field. Varyu shows your saved matches and also searches the web for recipes with a photo, title, and source website. You can review each result before processing it. Results load in groups of 15, up to 60 per search.

Text

You can type or paste a recipe. This is the most direct alternative when a page cannot be read automatically.

Photos

Varyu lets you select up to six photos and recognizes their text on the iPhone before sending it to the backend. Blurry images may require another photo or a manual correction.

Web pages

Public pages with structured recipe data or readable text work best. Varyu does not bypass sign-ins, paywalls, CAPTCHA, blocking, or pages that depend entirely on JavaScript.

YouTube

Current support is assisted: Varyu can use metadata and a public description when it contains the recipe. Arbitrary video transcription is not promised; when information is missing, Varyu asks for text or screenshots instead.

TikTok

Varyu recognizes tiktok.com links as well as the vm.tiktok.com and vt.tiktok.com short links produced by the share button. Support is assisted, same as YouTube: the public video description is used when it contains the recipe. Audio and video are not transcribed.

How adaptations work

Varyu keeps one visible recipe. The original version is preserved internally, while the adaptation becomes its current state.

  • Change the serving count from 1 to 48 people.
  • Choose an Economical, Balanced, or Premium cost level.
  • Choose how much time you have, from 15 minutes to 2 hours or more.
  • Apply a specific dietary profile.
  • Mark several ingredients as “I do not have it” and adapt them together.
  • Review each substitution, its reason, and the original ingredient.

If restoring an ingredient conflicts with an important restriction, Varyu asks for confirmation. Allergies and dietary restrictions still require review, and there is no medical guarantee.

Library, details, and cook mode

The same search combines saved recipes and web results. Your own recipes can be starred or pinned to keep them at the top of the library.

  • Add or replace a recipe cover photo.
  • Check total time and the breakdown for each preparation stage.
  • Review total, per-serving, and per-ingredient calories.
  • Review total, per-serving, and per-ingredient estimated costs.
  • Open cook mode to follow the preparation and return to the ingredients when needed.
  • Share as PDF, text, or a read-only or editable-copy link.

Costs and region

Each cost appears as a guidance range with its region, currency, date, and confidence level. Varyu does not query supermarket prices or inventory in real time.

You can choose your region, currency, and units. Suggested stores or places are general categories—such as a market or supermarket—not promises of availability.

Plans and subscription

The free plan allows up to 10 recipes and 1 dietary profile. The recipe limit is cumulative: it counts the total number of recipes you have created, not a monthly allowance.

Varyu Pro raises this to 90 recipes per calendar month and unlimited dietary profiles. It is an auto-renewing subscription available on a monthly or yearly period, and the price for your country is shown in the app before you confirm.

You can cancel at any time in Settings > your name > Subscriptions on your iPhone; Pro access continues until the end of the period you paid for. See the subscription terms.

Account, privacy, and deletion

Varyu uses Sign in with Apple to maintain a private, synchronized library. Profiles and recipes are isolated by user.

Settings includes an action to delete the account, recipes, profiles, and files. Source photos are designed to be temporary, and private keys for AI services are not embedded in the app.

Read the privacy information to learn about data handling and its limits.
